If you are like us, you have tried lots of water based stain and finishes. So it comes as no surprises that none of them measure up to oil based stains for workability and color control. Staining wood is no simple Job and professional wood finishers have spent many years learning to perfect their trade. All in One Stain and Finish from VNC makes wood finishing easier and with better results. While no stain has yet perfected the “does it all by itself” concept, this one does a great job. It is important to remember that using good plain sliced or rift sawn material is far easier than veneers to stain. After that doing a sanding job that matches the material, color and finish you are trying to get matters a lot. Lastly, a stain that allows you to control absorption like VNC all in one stain and finish can help you get professional results.

This is a cute little shop that sells paint. They sell a few brands, but we went there for the Mythic paint, which advertises as being non-toxic, low VOC, and generally safest among paints around pregnant women and children. We picked out our color at another (big box) store, and then came here to get our color matched in the low VOC paint. The owner met us at the store on our schedule, and worked with us to make sure we picked a finish that we'd like.It's a nice little store with solar panels on the roof.
